Hurricane Hill

Hurricane Hill Remembered

August 11, 2009

The recorded message from Olympic National Park at 7:45 AM said, “The roads are clear, wet and foggy. Peaks and valley are not visible because of dense fog.” Well, we knew what we would find but we went there anyway, 35 miles to the trailhead from our cabin in Sequim.

Oh, the memories of the good times we have had hiking Hurricane Hill!

Six years ago, we hiked the steep trail to the top of the hill for the first time. They say it’s only a couple of miles to get there but they don’t tell you that it’s also feels like a couple of miles straight up! The Ranger at the Park entrance did say that we had arrived on  the first clear day in two weeks. The view was well worth the effort.

Four years later, we returned to Olympic National Park and Hurricane Hill

The trail up Hurricane Hill is breathtaking in more ways than one!

We carry a tripod in the back pack for taking self portraits in out of the way places.
